Vietnam inaugurates largest exhibition in its history

Hanoi, Aug 28 (Prensa Latina) The "80 Years of Independence, Freedom, and Happiness" exhibition, the largest ever held in Vietnam, opened at the brand-new National Exhibition Center in Dong Anh Commune of Hanoi.

This is a particularly important event, honoring not only the glorious historical journey but also spreading patriotism, national pride, and aspirations for advancement, and affirming the country’s potential and position on the path of innovation, integration, and sustainable development, said Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

The Vietnamese Prime Minister emphasized that this modern and roomy project contributes to the realization of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s conclusion on the planning of Hanoi, which is to develop into a cultural, civilized, modern, green, beautiful, and clean city with an intelligent urban model.

The new National Exhibition Center has more than 304,000 square meters of indoor space and another 200,000 square meters of outdoor space, three world-class conference halls with a capacity for 5,000 people, and a system of modern, high-end facilities, techniques, and services.

A special and notable feature of the facility is the world’s largest steel dome system, 56 meters high, 360 meters in diameter, and weighing up to 24,000 tons. Produced, designed, and built by Vietnam itself, it resembles a tortoise shell.

Based on its total area and investment, the Vietnam National Exhibition Center is among the 10 largest of its kind in the world.

The project, according to the government’s online newspaper, transformed the rugged area along the Red River “into an attractive destination, ready for major political, economic, cultural, and artistic events in the country, the region, and the world, and a meeting point for patriotic festivals and Vietnamese national pride.” The exhibition, which will remain open until September 5, will feature the participation of 28 ministries and central agencies, 34 provinces and cities, and more than 110 major companies and economic groups with over 230 booths.
