Cuban Ambassador to this nation, Rogelio Polanco, made the remarks at the plaque-laying ceremony on monuments built in gratitude for the assistance provided by Cuban and Soviet specialists, as well as on the statues of Chinese experts and internationalist soldiers from Laos and Cambodia, at the Military History Museum.
Polanco stated: “Cuban volunteers shared experiences, joined Vietnamese military units, and participated in the fight, all of which contributed to enriching our strategic defense concept: the war of all people.”
The diplomat noted that during the fulfillment of these missions, several Cuban officers laid down their lives, and “this honorable legacy fosters the excellent defense cooperation relations between Cuba and Vietnam.”
The ambassador emphasized that this is also a tribute to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, whose immortal phrase forever sealed the deep brotherhood between our peoples: “For Vietnam we are willing to give our own blood.”
As Fidel proclaimed in September 1973 from the liberated territories of Quang Tri: “A thousand years, two thousand years, five thousand years, ten thousand years will pass, and future generations will have to speak of the heroism of the people of Vietnam.”
At the end of the ceremony, Polanco held a pleasant conversation with Le Ding Ba, the artist who designed the memorial to Cuban military experts.
