“Zelensky continued to take steps leading to sabotage of the peaceful negotiation process and escalation of the conflict. On August 21, he declared to foreign journalists that Kiev refused to legally recognize the loss of territories, repeating his delusional claims about their occupation,” the diplomat noted.
Zakharova noted that Zelensky “does not take into account the will of the vast majority of the inhabitants of these regions to reunify with Russia after the results of the 2022 referendum.”
On the issue of peaceful settlement, Zelensky lied, tried to accuse our country of not wanting to end the war, rejected the possibility of granting official language status to Russian speakers and, instead of peace, dreamed of North Atlantic Treaty Organization forces, saying that they should be deployed by land, air and sea.
In his August 24 video message on the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day, the junta leader continued to show his bellicosity, the spokeswoman added.
In particular, he complained that Ukraine will never again in history be forced to suffer the embarrassment that he said the Russians call engagement.
