Dominican organizations condemn US ships in the Caribbean Sea

Santo Domingo, Aug 31 (Prensa Latina) Dominican organizations condemned the presence of US warships in the Caribbean, near Venezuela, and urged the people of the world to show solidarity with countries facing imperialist aggression.

Dominicans joined the World Day of Solidarity for Venezuela and Peace in Latin America and the Caribbean, and asserted that the Bolivarian Revolution is a trench of dignity, sovereignty, and hope.

Flags of both countries and large posters with photographs of the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chavez, and constitutional president Nicolas Maduro accompanied Dominicans in the drive.

Isabel Tejeda, a member of the Dominican Campaign of Solidarity with Venezuela, affirmed that the presence of US ships in the Caribbean Sea is a provocation to the sovereignty of the people, thus, urged the countries of the region to unite.

In a statement, the Coordination of Solidarity with Venezuela and the Anti-Fascist International, Dominican Republic Chapter, reaffirmed their commitment to defending peace, self-determination, and the independence of nations “at a time when the imperialist onslaught is growing.”

They maintained that Venezuela, like Nicaragua and Cuba, has the right to build its own political and social model, to freely dispose of its natural resources, and to defend its autonomy without foreign interference.

They demanded that the UN and its Security Council speak out and act against the interventionist and hegemonic actions of the United States.
