Jordan calls for international action to stop massacres in Gaza

Amman, Aug 31 (Prensa Latina) Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi urged the international community to act urgently to stop the massacres committed by Israel in Gaza Strip.

In a post on the X platform, Safadi welcomed the condemnation issued by the foreign ministers of Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Norway, Slovenia, and Spain of the recent Israeli attack on Gaza and its announcement of establishing a permanent presence in the Palestinian territory.

He affirmed that these positions must receive the support of all countries committed to international law and human rights.

The Jordanian Foreign Minister warned that impunity and Israel’s disregard for international norms cannot continue and stressed that the famine affecting Palestinians requires “urgent and effective international action.”

He stated that the Israeli government will not stop its attacks or settlement expansion in the West Bank unless it faces consequences, while highlighting that Israel is also intensifying its destabilizing actions in Syria and Lebanon, threatening regional and international security.

Safadi accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of thriving “in a climate of conflict” and destroying Gaza, eliminating the prospects for a just peace, and inciting the entire region with what he described as a “racist and inhumane ideology that the world should not tolerate.”

The minister revealed that a ceasefire proposal exists, but that it is being blocked by Israel, prolonging the conflict instead of moving toward peace.

Finally, he called on all countries to adopt the position of Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Norway, Slovenia, and Spain, and to act immediately to stop further massacres of Palestinians and uphold justice and peace.
