In a meeting on the development of the energy and fuel complex in the country’s Far East the head of State emphasized that nuclear energy is actively developing in the region, which is also a traditionally strong area for the nation.
“Nuclear power plant projects are rightly considered green energy. They have virtually no carbon footprint. Of course, we must continue developing this promising sector,” Putin emphasized, adding that he looks forward to hearing opinions on this topic during the discussions.
The Russian leader noted that small-scale nuclear energy projects, such as the low-capacity nuclear power plants in Yakutsk and Chukotka, are being successfully implemented in the Far East.
Construction of the Primorsky and Khabarovsk nuclear power plants is planned.
And another unique floating nuclear power plant is also planned. This will supply power to the Bystrinsky Mining and Processing Plant in Chukotka, Putin concluded.
