The announcement was made at a solemn ceremony in the historic Damascus Citadel, with the participation of President Ahmad al-Sharaa, representatives of local and international companies, as well as prominent figures from the Syrian and Arab business world.
According to official data, the fund raised more than 60 million dollars in its first hours of launch.
The initiative was established by Presidential Decree No. 112 and has its own legal personality, as well as financial and administrative independence. Its headquarters are located in the Syrian capital.
Safwat Raslan, director of the Fund, assured during the opening ceremony that its management will be based on complete transparency, through the regular publication of reports and statistics, as well as the maintenance of an updated digital database and a secure channel for complaints or claims.
The Syrian Development Fund aims to facilitate the dignified return of internally displaced persons and refugees. The rehabilitation of 50,000 homes is planned to resettle seven million displaced persons, in addition to the return of six million Syrian refugees from abroad.
