Iglesias, who received the 2017 Distinction for National Culture for her outstanding career, began her artistic career at age 12, in 1982, and has won numerous awards at festivals and competitions.
In 1990, she formed the duo Los Hermanos Iglesias with her brother, and in 1994, she became the professional vocalist for Trio Iglesias.
Once the results of the draw were announced, the Cuban singer expressed that she had finished first among the contestants and that she would strive to showcase the full power of Cuban music and, of course, continue to strive for a good place in the Intervision competition.
Following the Cuban singer, the representatives of Kyrgyzstan, China, and Egypt will defend their songs, in that order, followed by singers from Belarus, Uzbekistan, and India, which closes the competition.
Representing Latin America, in addition to Cuba, musicians from Brazil, Colombia, and Venezuela will participate in Intervision, while representing Africa will be Egypt, Madagascar, Ethiopia, and South Africa.
The draw began with a video message from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, who expressed that Intervision is a universal platform for intercultural dialogue, allowing for the mutual enrichment of the history and traditions of peoples and further demonstrating that music is a universal language of communication.
