France: Political-cultural festival Fete de l’Humanite kicks off

Paris, Sept 12 (Prensa Latina) The highly anticipated French political-cultural festival, La Fete de l’Humanite, will kick off in the Paris Region with its usual program packed with lectures, meetings, debates, and concerts, a forum typically attended by hundreds of thousands of people.

In its 90th edition, the event that expects to surpass last year’s 450,000 visitors, is held over three days on pressing issues of our time, such as peace and climate change, and featuring performances by popular artists.

La Fete de l’Humanite is a space for progressive debate, in which the organizers propose to address national and international issues, such as the importance of social justice, the fight against colonialism, and the demand for respect for the self-determination of peoples.

Also high on the agenda are condemnations of the Israeli aggression against Palestine and the US blockade against Cuba, and calls for the release of political prisoners around the world.

The day before, Fabien Gay, director of the daily newspaper l’Humanite, officially opened the meeting, accompanied by Fabien Roussel, National Secretary of the Communist Party, and Palestinian Ambassador Hala Abou Hassira, among other figures.

This Friday, the first day of the political-cultural forum will feature discussions on racism, militarization, the economy, and digitalization.

Regarding international issues, debates will include the intensification of the US blockade against Cuba since Donald Trump returned to the White House, actions to end the colonization of Palestine, and the 50 years since the end of the Vietnam War.
