Carlos Bertola, one of the Argentines traveling as part of the FGS, announced on his Instagram profile during a radio interview, that most of the boats are already gathered in the port of Tunis, getting ready to leave.
Bertola clarifies that due to the drone attacks to which two vessels were subjected to in previous days, Tunisian police and military authorities are currently protecting them with signal jammers to avoid similar incidents.
The Argentinean said that they are waiting for the Tunisian vessels and if they manage to put the whole fleet on line today Sept 13), they would be setting sail.
He made it clear that after the departure, they expect to meet in international waters with other vessels, this time those coming from Italy, and then according to calculations it would be about seven days of navigation to Gaza.
Bertola acknowledged that regarding the expectations “the best hypothesis” is that there will be interceptions by the Israeli army (as it had happened with previous flotillas) even in the first 24 hours of the crossing, with helicopters and speedboats taking control of the boats and offering “voluntary deportation” with temporary arrest and a ban on returning to Israel.
