To this end, the Nicaraguan National Assembly (Parliament) recently approved a 13-million-dollar loan agreement with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED).
Conducted by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure (MTI), the project is a strategic step in expanding the road network connecting the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean regions of this Central American nation.
Walmaro Gutierrez, president of the Parliament’s Economy and Budget Committee, highlighted the project’s relevance by underscoring that “we made a commitment to the Caribbean Coast in this second stage of the Revolution. After 150 years of republican history, this is the first time that Nicaragua, the Pacific Ocean, and the Caribbean Sea will see a historic dream fulfilled: the connection through a first-class land route.”
The new Prinzapolka 115-meter-long bridge will be built with reinforced concrete and a steel superstructure, ensuring reliable land transportation year-round in a tropical area, even in the face of the effects of climate change.
The KFAED was founded in 1961 and aims to finance development and infrastructure projects, provide loans on favorable terms, and offer technical assistance and expert advice to improve the economies of developing countries.
