Addressing the VNA’s 80th anniversary commemoration event, the secretary general of the CPV praised the news agency’s progress since its founding on September 15, 1945, and outlined the guidelines to follow as the country prepares to enter a new era of development.
The party chief stated that the VNA must continually renew itself, develop, and reaffirm its role as a strategic and reliable agency and official source of information for the Party and the State, doing so in an accurate, objective, humanistic, and useful manner for the nation and its people.
He noted that the agency’s journalists must strengthen their political steadfastness and fidelity to revolutionary ideals, maintain ethics, play their role as a vanguard, and contribute to building trust and social consensus.
To Lam referred to the fierce international media competition in the era of digital transformation and urged innovation in journalism, mastering digital platforms, using artificial intelligence (AI) and big data, and preserving the valuable national photo archive that the agency safeguards.
VNA Director-General Vu Viet Trang also recalled the agency’s founding eight decades ago at the ceremony and underscored that Uncle Ho’s teachings have served as a guiding light and driving force in overcoming all difficulties and maintaining an uninterrupted flow of information.
Before the ceremony, participants visited the photo exhibition “VNA: 80 Years of Accompanying the Nation” and signed the agency’s Book of Tradition.
