Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said this historic report, which is a wake-up call to take serious action to combat the impact of global warming.
The first National Climate Risk Assessment (NCRA) by the Australian Government outlined the severe consequences the country could face if climate pollution from coal, oil, and gas is not reduced.
This analysis modeled the impact of risks such as heat waves, droughts, and floods on different parts of the community, economy, and environment under three global warming scenarios: above 1.5°C, above 2°C, and above 3°C.
According to ABC Australia, while the increased heat risk will affect the entire country, the north will be hardest hit, as rising temperatures are expected to make conditions dangerous for human activity.
