Bolivia seeks owners of abandoned suitcases containing cocaine

La Paz, Sep 18 (Prensa Latina) Bolivian authorities are looking for the owners of three suitcases abandoned in La Paz Bus Terminal, with packages of cocaine hydrochloride, according to the departmental deputy commander of the Police, Andres Paz.

The authority commented that last Tuesday night security personnel found the three suitcases, while security cameras captured six people possibly involved in this illicit traffic.

The Physical Security Battalion officers carried out a routine inspection and, after finding the suspicious suitcases, they reported it to the anti-drug unit.

A field test confirmed the presence of eight packages with characteristics similar to cocaine hydrochloride.

This fact has been referred to the Special Force for the Fight against Drug Trafficking”, informed the sub-commander, “and investigations are being carried out there. At the moment no one has been apprehended”.

The director of the Terminal, Iveliz Asturizaga, assured that the images of the security cameras allowed the identification of the six people allegedly involved in the crime.

This incident takes place in the midst of a wave of violence that is sweeping eastern Bolivia, and which the day before forced the Public Prosecutor’s Office to transfer and place under protection the former departmental prosecutor of Beni, Gerardo Balderas, because his life was in danger.
