Cuba calls on preventing US military aggression to Venezuela

Havana, Sept 18 (Prensa Latina) Cuba denounced the escalation of actions by the United States aimed at justifying an armed intervention against Venezuela and warned of its dire consequences for the Latin American and Caribbean region.

In a statement by the island’s revolutionary government, Havana accuses Washington of deploying forces in the Caribbean and attacking civilian vessels, violating international norms for provocative purposes.

“The gathering and increase of military resources and personnel in the Caribbean Sea, the use of force to attack civilian vessels and murder their crews, and the unjustified interception and detention of a vessel, in violation of international norms, confirm the hostile and irresponsible nature of the ongoing operation,” Havana asserted.

The United States spreads narratives of psychological warfare to portray Venezuela as a threat to its national security. In this context, officials such as the Secretary of State and Republican legislators—also linked to the offensive in Gaza—are driving this escalation with the real objective of seizing Venezuelan oil, the statement states.

“The true goal of these actions is to seize Venezuela’s oil and resources,” the statement denounces.

Cuban authorities warn that direct military intervention “would unleash a conflict of unpredictable proportions that would threaten the peace and stability of all of Our America.” In this sense, the deployment of US troops in the Caribbean constitutes “a deliberate provocation to force a defensive response from Caracas.”

The Cuban government nation demands that lies be separated from reality and calls on the international community to drive against the aggression.

It also reiterates that no country may violate the UN Charter or International Law, and defends the proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace.
