The source told Al-Arabiya that de-escalation measures were discussed during the meeting amid the continued Israeli aggression against Syrian territory.
The Syrian side also presented a vision for implementing de-escalation mechanisms within the framework of the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement.
The Syrian delegation pledged to guarantee security on the border with the occupied territories in exchange for a cessation of Israeli aggression.
Meanwhile, the US website Axios released details of a confidential Israeli proposal presented to the Syrian delegation during the meeting, focusing on the establishment of a new demilitarized zone and a no-fly zone, stretching from southwest of Damascus to the separation line with the Israeli-occupied territories.
According to sources cited by Axios, the proposal seeks to replace the 1974 agreement, which they consider obsolete following the reconfiguration of power in Syria and the Israeli occupation of parts of the demilitarized zone in recent years.
The plan presented by Tel Aviv is inspired by the model of the 1979 peace treaty with Egypt, which establishes three zones with varying levels of demilitarization and air control.
