Vietnam-Malaysia cooperation with positive and substantial advances

Hanoi, Sep 18 (Prensa Latina) The positive and substantial advances in friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Malaysia, two countries currently linked by an Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, are highlighted here today by national media.

These achievements were celebrated by the Malaysian prime minister, Anwar Ibrahim, and the president of the Vietnamese National Assembly (Parliament), Tran Thanh Man, who began an official visit to that nation on Thursday, where he will attend the 46th General Assembly of the Asean Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-46).

According to press reports published here, in the first seven months of this year bilateral trade reached 9.23 billion dollars, an increase of eight percent over the same period of 2024.

The people-to-people exchanges are also intensified and cooperation between the National Industry and Energy Group of Vietnam and the National Oil Company of Malaysia “has become a symbol of effective cooperation between both countries”.

At today’s meeting the partners agreed to intensify trade cooperation, as well as boost investment and collaboration in energy, science and technology, digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), fisheries, and Halal industry, among others.

Thanh Man stressed the need to soon adopt the Programme of Action to implement the Vietnam-Malaysia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for 2025-2030, and also to foster tripartite cooperation in the export of renewable electricity from the Indochinese country to Malaysia and Singapore, amon other important achievemnets.
