Boric will speak on Tuesday at the high-level segment, where he will address issues such as the defense of international law, the protection of democracy and human rights, and sustainable development, the Presidency said in a statement.
The meeting coincides with the 80th anniversary of the creation of the United Nations, and among the issues of greatest interest are the situation in Gaza, climate change, women equality, and artificial intelligence, the multilateral entity said.
In the run-up to the Assembly, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Portugal officially announced their recognition of a Palestinian state, in response to the genocide committed by Israel, which has already claimed the life of more than 65,000 people.
Other countries could also announce their recognition at the UN: France, Belgium, Malta, Luxembourg, Andorra, and San Marino.
Chile has confirmed that the only path to a just and lasting peace in the Middle East is a two-state solution, Palestine and Israel, with Jerusalem as the future shared capital.
