An official statement highlighted Jijamo’s diplomatic career, having previously represented Addis Ababa in Barbados, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and the Bahamas.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveyed its condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased ambassador, and will announce the time and place of the funeral in due course.
Ethiopian Ministers of State for Foreign Affairs Hadera Abera and Berhanu Tsegaye also mourned the passing of the distinguished diplomat.
Meanwhile, the Cuban Embassy in Ethiopia, in a note of condolence posted on its social media, highlighted Jijamo’s role in strengthening the historic ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
It extended his solidarity to the Ethiopian government and people in this time of grief.
