The meeting aims at strengthening cooperation, boosting joint initiatives on sustainable development, regional integration, peace, and human rights, as well as the encouragement of active participation of parliaments in building global solutions to common challenges.
According to information previously released in the capital by the Senate, the organization of the forum fell to the Afro Legal Commission of Congress.
The agenda includes spaces for discussion on ethnic-racial inclusion, the recognition of Afro-descendant communities, and their role in the consolidation of more diverse and participatory democracies.
The president of the Afro Legal Commission of Congress, Gersel Perez, said that the meeting is a historic opportunity for Afro-descendant voices to play a leading role in parliamentary diplomacy.
“From Barranquilla, we seek to build bridges between Africa, Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean, with the aim of moving toward a future of cooperation, racial justice, and inclusion in the global agenda,” he said.
