The activities are part of the ministry’s program to celebrate Tourism Week, whose theme this year is “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation.”

The event began with a five-kilometer (5K) walk and run and will continue until September 27.

More than 500 people participated in Sunday’s event, which was attended by Tourism Minister Leticia Gomez, other ministry officials, family members, and runners, according to a press release.

Gomez said that the 5K race was “a space dedicated to promoting peace, joy, and unity.”

She noted that on World Tourism Day, we are committed to uniting and including, and that is “what we are doing on this wonderful day, committed to sustainable tourism and social well-being.”

The Ministry of Tourism’s release specified that the race was divided into categories for all audiences, including people with disabilities and the traditional categories of Youth, Open, and Master, up to 70 years of age and older.
