Vietnam replaces personnel in UN peacekeeping missions

Hanoi, Sept 22 (Prensa Latina) More than 240 Vietnamese officers and soldiers were dismissed in southern Ho Chi Minh City to join the United Nations peacekeeping missions in South Sudan (UNMIS) and Abyei (UNISFA).

The deployment includes 63 members of the seventh rotation of the Level 2 Field Hospital and 184 members of the fourth rotation of the Engineering Unit, the director of Vietnam’s Department of Peacekeeping Operations, Major General Pham Manh Thang, explained at the ceremony.

According to the senior official, all of them completed extensive training, both in experience and technical skills, and are fully familiar with UN rules, mission regulations, as well as the laws of the host country, Vietnamese legislation, and military discipline.

“This ensures their full readiness to carry out the tasks assigned to them,” Manh Thang stated.

At the farewell ceremony at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in southern Ho Chi Minh City, Deputy Minister of National Defense Colonel General Hoang Xuan Chien emphasized that over the past 11 years, Vietnam has deployed more than 1,300 officers and soldiers from the People’s Army and Public Security Forces on various missions of this type.
