Mexican Secretary of Tourism Josefina Rodriguez said her country will play a leading role at Fitur 2026, where its delegation will include representatives from the country’s 32 states, and will have an intense agenda in anticipation of showcasing its cultural, tourism, and gastronomic splendor.
“Being a Guest Country at Fitur 2026 represents a strategic opportunity to position Mexico as a global tourism power, highlight its cultural, natural, and gastronomic wealth, as well as showcase new routes and emerging destinations to industry professionals, investors, international media, and tourists,” he emphasized.
According to sources from the Mexican Embassy in Spain, the presence at Fitur 2026 comes at a time of growth in the national tourism industry.
Mexico, from January to July 2025, had foreign exchange earnings from international visitors (27.7 million international tourists) reached $21.682 billion, an increase of 6.8 percent compared to the same period in 2024.
During the 46th edition of Fitur, Mexico will feature an innovative, immersive, and interactive space where it will present its tourist regions, Magical Peoples, and diverse offers, from established destinations (35 sites on the Lists of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Mexico). In the meeting with the Secretary of Tourism, it was emphasized that Mexico’s participation as a Guest Country at FITUR coincides with the visibility it will achieve as an alternate host of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
