According to the US diplomat, President Donald Trump actively promoted the process, intending to announce the agreement this week. However, factors such as the Jewish New Year holiday have slowed the talks.
The agreement forsees that Israel halt its air and ground attacks on Syria, while Damascus would commit to limiting military movements near the Golan Heights border, Barrack explained, asserting that both parties are negotiating “in good faith.”
Syrian President Ahmad Al-Shara reaffirmed yesterday his government’s willingness to respect the separation line established in the 1974 Separation of Forces Agreement, provided that full Syrian sovereignty over its territory, including the occupied Golan Heights, is guaranteed.
