Cuba demands immediate end to US military deployment in the Caribbean

United Nations, Sept 25 (Prensa Latina) The Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a zone of peace remains fully in force today, as the United States continues its dangerous military deployment in the waters of the Caribbean Sea.

The issue arose at the events taking place in the context of the High-Level Segment of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly.

In his address, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez rejected the approach of peace through force during the Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the European Union (EU), held in New York City.

“The only rule to follow must be international law”, he said, therefore: We demand an immediate end to the current US military deployment in the Caribbean, which threatens regional peace, stability, and security,” emphasized the head of the Cuban Foreign Ministry.

We advocate, he emphasized, for a diplomatic, serious, constructive, realistic, and peaceful solution to the conflict in Ukraine, in compliance with international law and guaranteeing the security and sovereignty of all.

He also denounced the genocide against the Palestinian people by Israel, with the support of the United States, and in turn highlighted “the notable contribution of European states to the recognition of the Palestinian State.”

Rodriguez also expressed his gratitude for the “European Union and CELAC’s stance in rejecting the United States blockade and the arbitrary inclusion of Cuba on the unilateral list of states that allegedly sponsor terrorism.” He also denounced “the infamous and dishonest campaign by the United States against Cuba’s international medical cooperation.”

Bruno Rodriguez, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and a member of the Cuban Parliament, arrived in New York last Saturday, leading the island’s delegation participating in this High-Level Segment of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly.
