This power plant currently generating 170 megawatts (MW) and, although it has been affected by unforeseen outages, it is moving toward stability with the entry into operation of Block 5 after partial maintenance.
“The rest of its blocks, 6 and 3, are out of the maintenance cycle and are generating 50 MW each,” explained director general of the entity, Jesus Aguilar. He also added that Unit 4 has been out of service since 2023 but that “its recovery strategy is being prepared as part of the government’s plan to strengthen the SEN.”
According to the Presidency of the Republic, light maintenance is planned for units 6 and 3 in December, which will allow for improved conditions by the end of the year.
For his part, the president emphasized the quality of these operations and also focused on the maintenance of unit 5, which must also undergo corrective work “to continue recovering power and have greater availability in the coming months.”
The head of state recognized the country’s electrical workers for their tireless work and defended the strategy outlined, which consists of recovering thermal and distributed generation capacity, as well as continuing the construction of solar parks.
Regarding these, he referred to the generation of more than 600 MW achieved in one day and noted that of the photovoltaic solar parks committed for this year, only one remains to be started, as the rest are in operation or under construction.
