This time, the so-called Rapid Support Forces (RSF) used a suicide drone that hit a market located in the west of the city, where dozens of civilians were trying to buy food in the besieged city, capital of the western state of North Darfur and the last stronghold of the Army in western Sudan.
The information was released this Thursday by the non-governmental organization Coordination of the Resistance Committees of El Fasher, which specified that the attack took place the night before, while the city woke up today under intense artillery fire.
According to sources, several army positions in Al Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan state, were also attacked during the day.
The army is attempting to advance from there to open a route to break the siege imposed on El Fasher.
Since mid-April 2023, this African nation has been mired in an internal war, after conflicts over power struggles between army chief Abdel Fatah al-Burhan and the leader of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, have intensified.
The fighting has already destroyed countless livelihoods, plunging the country into a complex spiral of hunger and death.
