Jordan condemns Israeli extremists’ assault on Holy Mosque

Amman, September 26 (Prensa Latina) The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the assault by Israeli extremists on Al-Aqsa Mosque, which occurred under the protection of the Israeli occupation forces.

The Jordanian Foreign Ministry described the act as a grave violation of international law and the legal and historical status of Jerusalem.

It denounced the provocative acts carried out by extremist groups within the holy site and warned of the risks that continued such actions pose to regional and global stability.

Ministry spokesman Fouad Majali reiterated Jordan’s categorical rejection of any form of aggression or desecration against Al-Aqsa Mosque, noting that attempts to impose measures of temporal or spatial division on the holy site constitute an unacceptable violation of the current status quo.

Majali stressed that the current Israeli government’s policies, described as “reckless and extremist,” threaten to exacerbate the conflict and fuel tension in a region already marked by instability.

The spokesperson urged the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibility to halt violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem, as well as to end the escalating violence in the West Bank and the military offensive in the Gaza Strip.

He also remembered that Al-Aqsa Mosque is a place of worship exclusively for Muslims, under international law, and reiterated that the Jordanian Department for Al-Aqsa Affairs in Jerusalem is the sole legitimate authority responsible for overseeing and managing the holy site, in accordance with the historical and legal status quo.
