Diaz-Canel called on the people to act with prudence and discipline in a message posted on the social media platform X.
“We have been in communication with the first secretaries of the eastern provinces affected by intense rains. All instructions have been given, and work has been done to protect the population and material resources. I ask our people for prudence and discipline,” the president added.
According to press reports, the most significant rainfall will be concentrated in a corridor that extends from the province of Matanzas, in the west of the country, to Guantanamo, at the eastern end of the archipelago.
The Meteorological Institute specified that the area of greatest intensity—where heavy rainfall is expected in some locations—will extend from the eastern half of Camaguey province to Guantanamo.
