Cuban Robiel Sol grabbed gold medal at World Para Athletics Champions

New Delhi, Sept 28 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Robiel Yankiel Sol achieved another feat by winning the gold medal in the T46 long jump at the World Para Athletics Championships, with a leap of 7.57 meters that sealed his reign.

A two-time Paralympic and world record holder with a jump of 7.84 meters, Sol once again demonstrated his prowess at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium by achieving the best time of the day on his first attempt.

The silver medal went to Russia’s Nikita Kotukov with a jump of 7.21 meters, while the bronze went to China’s Hao Wang (7.19 meters), in a high-level final that kept the crowd in suspense.

The other Cuban competing, Abraham Viltre (T46), was unable to complete any of his three jumps and was left without a record, despite arriving with finalist aspirations.

The Cuban delegation remains committed to shining at this twelfth world event, which brings together the world’s best athletes on the road to the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games.

In the coming days, Lazaro Suarez (T13) will be competing in the 100 and 400 meters; Guillermo Varona (F46), Ulicer Aguilera (F13), and Ever Rene Castro (F41) in the javelin throw; Daniel Milanes (T47) in the lap of the oval; and Felipa Isis Hechavarria (T46) in the long jump, all aiming to extend Caribbean glory to New Delhi.
