Several individuals burned tires, cut off the power supply, and blocked access to the ministry’s headquarters in protest of the measures taken by Justice Minister Guillaume Ngefa to establish mechanisms to organize services and channel revenues for the country’s judicial sector.
According to the ACP, officials assured that the relevant departments mobilized to restore security and normal operation of the facilities, and also opened an investigation.
The media outlet notes that the instigators of the unrest appear to be primarily a few trade unionists and former members of former Minister Constant Mutamba’s cabinet, who had formed a network around these services and the valuable documents they issued to profit from them.
