In a statement, the Palestinian authorities reaffirmed their confidence in achieving peace “through a comprehensive agreement that guarantees the delivery of adequate humanitarian aid to Gaza and the release of hostages and prisoners.”
The statement advocated for the establishment of mechanisms to protect the Palestinian people, ensure respect for the ceasefire and security for both parties, and prevent Israeli annexation of land and forced displacement.
It also called for an end to “unilateral actions that violate international law” and urged Israel to release Palestinian tax funds and withdraw from the occupied territories.
The declaration called for a just peace based on a two-state solution, including an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with its capital in East Jerusalem.
The statement reaffirmed the willingness to hold presidential and parliamentary elections after the end of the war in Gaza, with the candidates pledging to accept the political program and international commitments approved by the Palestine Liberation Organization.
In meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington, Trump presented a 21-point plan to end the conflict, which has already been criticized by Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
In this regard, the Islamic Resistance Movement reiterated its opposition to laying down its weapons until the occupation ends.
