Venezuela and Uruguay agree to deepen cultural ties

Caracas, Sept 30 (Prensa Latina) Venezuela and Uruguay agreed to deepen cooperation in the cultural sphere, following a meeting between the head of the Ministry of Culture, Ernesto Villegas, and his counterpart, Gabriela Verde, respectively.

The meeting was held in the context of the World Conference on Cultural Policies of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, which is being held in Barcelona, ​​Spain, according to the Venezuelan organization’s website.

Villegas proposed to his counterpart to advance the normalization of bilateral relations through culture as a bridge.

In this regard, he advanced the possibility of bringing the theatrical production “Neither Enemies nor Foreigners” to Uruguayan lands and promoting cultural exchange through established experiences in the Bolivarian Republic, such as the Biennial of the South, Peoples in Resistance, and the International Book Fair.

In addition to the International Progressive Theater Festival and the World Poetry Festival.

The Venezuelan minister invited his counterpart to bring films of interest to be shown in national movie theaters and expressed particular interest in children’s films to “break Hollywood’s hegemony.”

The Uruguayan minister expressed her satisfaction with the proposals and considered the initiative to bring a Venezuelan group to Uruguay to the Performing Arts Festival to be wonderful, as well as to screen animated films and “Ali Primera,” which has just been announced to represent Venezuela at the 2026 Oscars.
