Diaz-Canel praises meeting with Namibian Foreign Minister

Havana, Oct 1 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel described the meeting he held with Namibian Foreign Minister Selma Ashipala-Musavyi as excellent.

The president highlighted on social media that he sent a warm embrace to the leader of the African nation, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, and thanked the Cuban people for their continued solidarity and support. “We highlight the historic friendship that unites us,” he emphasized.

During the talks, held the day before, the head of state emphasized that the recently established Intergovernmental Commission between Havana and Windhoek will mark a milestone in strengthening and expanding bilateral ties, which he described as “excellent political level” and progress in the economic, trade, and cooperation areas.

Diaz-Canel emphasized that this mechanism “is only established with closely related nations, such as yourselves,” while highlighting the profound historical and emotional significance of the African delegation’s visit.

He reaffirmed his willingness to “continue expanding our collaboration in all the sectors you have raised in this Intergovernmental Commission: health, education, construction and water resources, biotechnology, as well as cultural, educational, and sports exchange, hosting Namibian students in Cuba, and in any other sector or field we can.”

For her part, the Namibian Minister of International Relations and Trade expressed her gratitude for the welcome and, regarding the Intergovernmental Commission, noted that for her country’s leadership it represents “a very serious mechanism.”

The Foreign Minister emphasized that, although times are difficult, “it also represents an opportunity for the countries of the South to unite and reject what is happening, and also to shows to the world that we have everything we need.”
