The meeting, inaugurated by Dominican President Luis Abinader and ILO Director General Gilbert F. Houngbo, brings together delegations from Brazil, Canada, Panama, Colombia, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Chile, Cuba, Guatemala, Peru, Uruguay, among other nations.
The Minister of Labor, Eddy Olivares, assured that everything is ready for this event, considered the most important in the continent in labor matters.
The agenda includes the discussion of strategic issues such as employment generation, the transition from informality to formality, labor rights, technical-professional training and sustainable development.
Olivares recalled that the meeting was last held in 2018, before the Covid-19 pandemic, so its conclusions will have great transcendence for the region and for the ILO in general.
