Cuba’s International Boleros Festival closes with a Grand Finale

Havana, Oct 5 (Prensa Latina) Hours before the 37th edition of the International Boleros de Oro Festival closes, which is dedicated to the 95th birthday of Buena Vista Social Club diva Omara Portuondo, several performances and sub-venues are known, but the National Theater of Cuba and America Theater will be the main stages.

At the National Theater of Cuba, the gala will be dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Cuban Television, and the music of Cuban pianist Adolfo Guzman will be heard in tribute to this great maestro.

For the closing ceremony, guest artists will include Beatriz Marquez, Mundito Gonzalez, the orchestra and choir of Cuban radio and television, as well as the ballet company that has represented the latter medium for more than six decades.

Among the youngest generations of bolero interpreters are Alwin Damien and Karel Bartutis, who recently paid tribute to Armando Manzanero in a performance at the same institution, taking center stage at the closing ceremony of the International Boleros de Oro Festival.

Teatro America, meanwhile, will host this Sunday Vania Borges, Hector Tellez, Emilia Morales, Sergio Farias, and the Mexican trio Tres en Concierto, all worthy exponents of the bolero.

Saturday night was one of the most special of the 37th International Boleros de Oro Festival, with the recognition of La novia del Feeling and the gala entitled “Omara de Cuba,” with the presence of the singer and members of her family.

In the show, directed by National Television Award winner Jose Ramon Artigas, Portuondo received the artwork “Hummingbird Scissortail” by artist Janette Brossard, presented by the president of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC), musicologist Marta Bonet.
