Russian air defense shot down 32 Ukrainian drones in the last day

Moscow, Oct 5 (Prensa Latina) The operational systems of air defense shot down 32 Ukrainian attack drones in the European part of the country on the last day, reported today the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

According to the military dispatch published this Sunday on its official channel of Telegram, 11 unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down in Belgorod region; another 11, in that of Voronezh; five, in that of Nizhny Novgorod; and the remaining five, in Briansk, Kursk, Tula, Tambov, as well as in the republic of Mordovia.

For its part, the national air transport agency, Rosaviatsia, reported temporary closures of Tambov, Nizhny Novgorod and Yaroslavl airports on the last day in order to protect flights and passenger safety.

Since February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, said president Vladimir Putin, to protect the population from ‘a genocide by the government of Kiev’ and tackle national security risks.

And since late 2022, drone attacks launched from Ukraine against military and civilian targets in the Russian rear have become a common practice.

In recent months, Ukraine has launched numerous drone attacks on oil refineries and fuel tanks in Russia, mainly in the border provinces, but also in more remote areas such as Nizhny Novgorod, Baskortostan or Tatarstan.
