Cambodia Refutes Link Between COVID-19 Vaccines and Cancer

Phnom Penh, Oct 6 (Prensa Latina) Cambodia denied reports linking COVID-19 vaccines to an increased risk of cancer and reiterated the lack of evidence to support this claim, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

The clarification came after the September 29 publication of an article in the British newspaper Daily Mail about a study suggesting a possible link between vaccination and six types of cancer, especially in adults over 65.

In this regard, international experts described the results as “alarmist” and with “exaggerated” conclusions.

The Cambodian Ministry of Health’s Department of Communicable Disease Control stressed that “there is no scientific evidence to indicate that any COVID-19 vaccine causes cancer.”

She also noted that organizations such as the WHO, the International Agency for Research on Cancer, the National Cancer Institute of the United States, and the American Cancer Society have confirmed the safety of the vaccines.
