The Colombian Federation of Educators, for example, was one of the unions that confirmed its participation which, in Bogota, will begin with a sit-in in front of the U.S. Embassy during the early afternoon and will continue with a march to the central Plaza de Bolivar.
“The teachers of Colombia cannot be indifferent to what is happening in Gaza. It is our duty to raise our voices in defense of human rights and life,” said the leadership of the group in its official announcement.
The call of the Action Front for Palestine was joined by the Central Workers’ Union and the Union of Public Employees of the National Apprenticeship Service.
“We support the statements made by President Gustavo Petro at the 80th General Assembly of the United Nations, where he pointed out the United States and the State of Israel as responsible for this genocide that must be stopped by humanity,” said the latter union in its statement.
For its part, the Colombian chapter of the Global Movement for Gaza stated that it will be in front of the U.S. Embassy in Bogota, as part of the global day of solidarity.
