“On October 7, a combat unmanned aerial vehicle belonging to the Armed Forces of Ukraine was shot down using technical means near the Novovoronezh nuclear power plant,” the agency’s statement said.

As a result of colliding with the cooling tower of power unit six at the Novovoronezh nuclear power plant, the drone exploded.

There was no damage or injuries, but a dark mark was observed on the cooling tower as a result of the detonation, the statement added.

Rosenergoatom emphasized that the operational safety of the nuclear power plant is guaranteed, that radiation levels at the industrial site of the Novovoronezh nuclear plant and the surrounding land have not changed and are in line with natural values. Law enforcement agencies are working at the site.

“The incident has not affected the plant’s operation: currently, units four, five, and six are operational at the Novovoronezh nuclear plant. Unit seven has been undergoing scheduled preventive maintenance since October 4.”
