Zimbabwean Parliament reiterates support for Cuba against US blockade

Harare, Oct 7 (Prensa Latina) Webster Kotiwani Shamu, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Zimbabwe-Cuba Friendship Group in Parliament, reiterated his support for the island's struggle against the blockade imposed by the United States.

In a cordial meeting with Cuban Ambassador to this nation, Susellys Perez Mesa, Shamu reaffirmed Zimbabwe’s position, calling for an end to more than 60 years of the hostile policy of attempting to stifle the Cuban people with the US economic, commercial, and financial siege.

The legislative leader and the Head of Mission discussed several initiatives in Parliament and the area of communication to support the battle to lift the US blockade.

The Cuban ambassador highlighted the expressions of solidarity and support during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), including the mutual support expressed by the foreign ministers of Cuba, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, and this nation, Amon Murwira, against the US blockade and the unilateral coercive measures.

Perez Mesa and Shamu emphasized the mutual willingness to plan actions to strengthen bilateral relations, particularly between the two legislative bodies.

In the presence of Minister Counselor Luis Enrique Gonzalez Acosta and Second Secretary Zailin Gaulhiac Moraguez, both sides discussed existing agreements between the two countries and the prospects for cooperation in new areas.
