Israeli troops raid Syrian village and search homes

Damascus, Oct 8 (Prensa Latina) Israeli occupation forces raided the Syrian town of Al-Muallaqa, located in the province of Quneitra, where they carried out house searches and set up a temporary military checkpoint at the entrance to the town.

According to local media reports, the Israeli patrol, composed of at least six armored vehicles, searched several homes in the southwestern territory, without making any arrests.

The action comes amid a growing military escalation by Tel Aviv in southwestern Syria, where days ago, Israeli forces raided the village of Jamla, in the Yarmouk Basin in the neighboring province of Deraa, where they made arbitrary arrests after a sudden deployment in the area.

In addition, in the village of Jubata al-Khashab, north of Quneitra, a young man was wounded by Israeli soldiers’ fire while collecting firewood in a nearby forest.

The attack was confirmed by a correspondent in the area, who reported the occupation’s use of live ammunition against unarmed civilians.

These actions are in addition to restrictions imposed this Wednesday on local residents’ access to vital forested areas, such as the Al-Harsh Nature Reserve and the Jubata al-Khashab forests, essential for collecting dry firewood ahead of the winter season.

Testimonies gathered in the region indicate that Israeli units razed large areas of vegetation using heavy machinery, affecting native species such as oaks and pines, and destroying natural wildlife habitats.
