In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced the Israeli attack against the ships of this international initiative, which was carrying humanitarian aid bound for the Gaza Strip, as a serious violation of international law.

The intervention in international waters against the Freedom Flotilla, which sought to break the illegal and inhumane blockade imposed on Gaza, constitutes an act of piracy by the Netanyahu government, which is committing genocide in Gaza, the statement stated.

The document emphasized that Israel, by violently attacking civilian initiatives that defend humanitarian values, is intensifying regional tensions and undermining efforts to achieve lasting peace.

The Ministry also reported that Turkey has initiated the necessary steps to secure the release of its citizens detained by Israeli forces and their safe return to the country. It reiterated its support for the Palestinian cause and its commitment to efforts to end the genocide in Gaza.

The International Committee to Break the Siege of Gaza reported that the attack occurred today in international waters, as the Freedom Flotilla, composed of 11 vessels carrying civilian activists and humanitarian aid, was en route to the Gaza Strip.

The incident occurred days after a similar attack on the Resilience Flotilla, whose members were also arrested, amid allegations of torture and ill-treatment by Israeli forces.
