The exhibition will open from October 21 to 25, the day the in-person auction will take place.
The money collected will be used to purchase medical supplies to help fight the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States on the Caribbean nation.
“This initiative emerged from the major international campaign ‘Por amor a Cuba’ (For the Love of Cuba) in solidarity with those people who have been so reciprocal, so supportive of the nations of the world,” artist Yumac Ortiz, one of the organizers of the initiative, told Prensa Latina, along with creator Pilar Bustos.
Ortiz commented that the exhibition brings together more than 62 works by different artists, including Ecuadorians and Latin Americans, in techniques such as oil, silkscreen, canvas, and drawing.
Some of the pieces are by Cuban artists Esteban Machado, Miguel Rios, and Luis Alberto Ruiz Saavedra, who are residing in Ecuador.
There are also canvases by Cuban artists who were previously in the Guayasamin Foundation, which is now offering them for this charitable cause.
The exhibition catalog brings together works in diverse techniques and styles ranging from figurative to abstract and is available on Instagram at “ecuadorycuba2025.”
