Cuban FM defends global stability and supports Venezuela

Kampala, Oct 15 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez disclosed in this capital on Wednesday the United States government's attacks on the United Nations and countries of the South, while reiterating his support for Venezuela.

Rodriguez spoke this Wednesday at the 19th Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), which opened in this capital and whose issues he reviewed on X.

He literally stated on X, “We denounce attacks by the government of the USvs@UN and multilateral agreements essential to confront global challenges; and the imposition of unilateral coercive measures against countries of the South, with the aim of destabilization and domination.”

The foreign minister also outlined the Caribbean nation’s stance for a world of peace: “We reject the use of mere pretexts to threaten regional and international peace and stability, as is the case with the current extraordinary and dangerous US military deployment in the Caribbean, disguised as anti-drug operations, in flagrant violation of international law.”

In his remarks at the opening session of the meeting in Uganda, Rodriguez addressed the current situation in the region and Cuba’s stance on the matter.

In the face of the danger of military aggression, we reiterate our unwavering and full support for #Venezuela and the Popular Military Union, led by legitimate President Nicolas Maduro. We call on the international community to mobilize to stop the attack and preserve Latin America and the Caribbean as a #ZoneOfPeace.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez began a tour of African countries on October 9, which included Togo, Benin, and Ethiopia, and now Uganda for the NAM midterm meeting on October 15-16.
