According to the military agency’s official Telegram channel on Wednesday, 17 fixed-wing manned aerial vehicles were destroyed over the Rostov region; 12 over the Volgograd region; 11 in Belgorod; and nine over the Voronezh region.

The military ministry also reported that four drones were shot down over the Crimean peninsula, three in the Black Sea, and one over the Bryansk, Kursk, and Oryol regions, respectively.

Meanwhile, the national air transport agency, Rosaviatsia, reported the temporary closure of Volgograd airport for the last day to ensure passenger safety.

Since February 24, 2022, Russia has launched a special military operation in Ukraine, according to President Vladimir Putin, to protect the population from “genocide by the Kyiv government” and address national security risks.

Drone attacks launched from Ukraine against military and civilian targets in the Russian rear have since become common practice.

In recent months, Ukraine has launched numerous drone attacks against oil refineries and fuel depots in Russia, mainly in border provinces, but also in more remote areas such as Nizhny Novgorod, Bashkortostan, and Tatarstan.
