The murders committed by Israel after the signing of the ceasefire agreement in Egypt confirmed the fragility of the agreement, with direct attacks by the Tel Aviv army and the complete blockage of food and medical aid for the population.
The Workers’ Commissions (CCOO), the General Union of Workers (UGT), and the Palestinian ambassador to Spain, Husni Abdel Wahed, gathered in front of the Niño Jesús Hospital in Madrid to denounce the Israeli genocide in Gaza.
They also demanded that Benjamin Netanyahu’s government truly comply with the peace agreement signed with Hamas, in the context of several demonstrations and strikes that will take place in Spain that day, in response to a call from unions.
We are going to carry out this day of struggle because it is impossible for peace to be based on agreements that are not even signed by the parties who are called to comply with them, denounced UGT Secretary General Pepe Alvarez, who lamented the “absolute weakness” of the agreement, because “neither Palestine nor Israel is present”.
He also called for continued mobilization, because “thanks to millions of people across the planet who have unanimously shouted: We need peace, stop genocide,” some progress has been made, although, he emphasized, “the struggle must continue.”
