In a statement supporting the Cuban resolution demanding an end to the US blockade, which will be presented to the United Nations on October 28-29, the Sri Lankan organization condemned the illegal blockade and called for an urgent and unconditional end to this injustice.
It also called for respect for the right of the inhabitants of the Caribbean nation to determine their development path.
The solidarity organization underscored that this unilateral measure violates the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter, international law, and the sovereignty of nations.
The release affirmed, “We join in supporting Cuba in the upcoming vote on the Cuban Resolution demanding an end to the US blockade, at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), on October 28-29, 2025.”
The Association of Sri Lankan Graduates in Cuba stated that the US blockade has caused numerous economic damages and suffering to the Cuban people.
The damage caused by the United States blockade against the Caribbean country increased by 7.556 billion dollars last year, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez denounced in September at the presentation in Havana of the updated report from March 2024 to February 2025.
