Upon receiving Cuban Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Susellys Perez Mesa, Murwira reiterated Harare’s stance against the US economic, financial, and commercial blockade on the eve of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) vote on the draft resolution calling for lifting the blockade.
The Cuban ambassador updated the foreign minister on the consequences of Washington’s hostile policy and the island’s rejection of the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Zimbabwe.
Murwira and Perez Mesa addressed, during the friendly meeting, current bilateral projects, the progress of talks for the signing of agreements in different areas, and the legal frameworks for their implementation.
Accompanied by Albert Chimbindi, Permanent Secretary at this nation’s Foreign Ministry, Murwira recalled the historic and deep diplomatic and political relations between the two countries, since the African state’s liberation struggle.
He also praised Zimbabwe for its unwavering solidarity and support, including donations to the African Liberation Museum, which, he added, further highlights its historic role in Africa’s independence.
Perez Mesa also congratulated Zimbabwe on its upcoming leadership of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), as well as the successes of its term leading the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
