According to the agency’s official website, the operation was carried out jointly by the General Intelligence Service and the Internal Security Command.
The operation was the result of detailed monitoring of the cell’s movements, which operated in the town of Moadamiyeh Al-Qalamoun, approximately 25 kilometers northeast of Damascus.
The operation resulted in the arrest of one member, while two other members were killed, one of them while trying to detonate an explosive belt.
The Ministry stated that personal weapons, ammunition, and a ready-to-use explosive belt were seized at the scene of the raid, all of which were confiscated.
The detainee was handed over to the authorities for further investigation and legal proceedings.
